FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is considered a healthy adult BMI?

Standard adult screening ranges define 18.5 to 24.9 as healthy weight, but an individual assessment needs more than BMI alone.

Does BMI measure body fat?

No. BMI uses only height and weight, so it cannot distinguish fat, muscle, bone or fat distribution.

Can I calculate BMI with pounds, feet and inches?

Yes. Choose US customary units and enter weight in pounds plus height in feet and inches. The calculator converts the values before calculating BMI.
