Formula and assumptions
Men: BMR = 10W + 6.25H − 5A + 5. Women: BMR = 10W + 6.25H − 5A − 161. W is kilograms, H is centimeters and A is age in years. Pounds, feet and inches are converted before the formula. TDEE = BMR × activity multiplier.
03
Worked example
For a 30-year-old woman at 65 kg and 165 cm, BMR is about 1,370 kcal/day. With a 1.55 multiplier, estimated maintenance is about 2,124 kcal/day.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?
BMR estimates energy used at rest. TDEE applies an activity factor to approximate total energy use across a normal day.
Should I eat exactly the calculated number?
Treat it as a starting estimate. Track results over time and consult a qualified clinician or dietitian for personal guidance.
